Abby's Words of Wisdom

Tonight Abby was on the couch looking at something and I heard her talking to herself (which isn't abnormal, she talks to herself a lot, especially when she is playing mom and dad) so I looked over and could tell she was looking at a magazine. I asked her what she was doing and she said reading. She held up the Ensign (for those not familiar with the Ensign, it is a magazine that our church sends out every month- it contains articles, talks by church leaders, stories, etc)
As she holds up the magazine she says to me, "Jesus died in a forest. I was a baby when Jesus died. I was there- in the forest." "I really was mom."

She then turned the pages of the magazine and held it up to the page that had pictures of the General Authorities of the church (the leaders of the church) and says," And mom, these are my best friends. They are my friends, they really are."

Such profound words for a little 3 year old.

Uncle, March Madness, and Easter Eggs

We had a great Easter weekend! Uncle Brett came on Thursday and helped keep me sane until Blake returned home from his training class in New York early Saturday morning. Britton and Abby love climbing all over uncle Brett and singing Phil Collins hit "Strangers like Me" from Tarzan. I didn't realize that when Uncle Brett was visiting for the weekend we would be hosting one of the best egg decorators in the family. He colored and decorated some serious Easter eggs including a monkey (Monkey gone to Heaven by the Pixies as the inspiration) Dora the Explorer, and Boots the Monkey. As you can imagine, these eggs were a hit with the kids. Maycee slept through the egg decorating, but quickly caught on this morning that the eggs Britton and Abby were opening were filled with jelly beans. She was not very happy with me when I pulled out of her mouth the five red jelly beans she had hid in her cheek!

A long 24- actually 23 hours

Sometime when Blake is sick I can be kind of mean to him. Actually, not kind of mean, just down right mean. I am not sure why, but for some reason when he starts getting sick and needs to lay in bed all day- every sympathetic bone in my body disappears.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to lay in bed all day because I had been blessed with the stomach flu for the 2nd time this winter. The only good part about it was that it was daylight savings time so it made the day 1 hour shorter. I didn't leave my bedroom the entire day. I was in so much pain I actually was thinking how I would rather give birth again without pain medication that have to be going through this. It was horrible.

Instead of Blake paying me back for how evil I can be to him when he is sick, he couldn't have been more sympathetic. I told him to remind me of this day next time I treat him awful when he is sick.

Two things I can't stop thinking about this week

A few weeks ago I saw the commerical for the Olive Garden and Blake and I both agreed how much we would love some salad and breadsticks from this awesome place that we haven't been to in years. A couple of days later he called from work and said that he had won an award at work and guess what the prize was A GIFT CARD FROM THE OLIVE GARDEN. So Friday night, guess what we are doing? Can't wait. I can taste the salad now.

Jack Johnson at Red Rocks. August 17th. Tickets go on sale tomorrow. Enough said.
