One of my most favorite things about our house is how we are so close to a park. This morning, at 7:30 am while it was still cool, we ran over to the park to get some playtime in before it got to hot. I was there in my running clothes from my early morning run with my slippers. I love how we can just run over without much planning. Earlier in the month, they opened a second park on the other side of the neighborhood- which the kids love! It is within walking/biking distance. So late this afternoon we walked over there with a sack dinner, met some friends, and the kids got to play again. On our way home I was so glad I had my camera because the kids looked so cute trudging along. I even got Maycee to attempt to climb up the big hill so we could be along the lake. The view was awesome!

Has it really been 8 years??

Happy Anniversary Blake!!
After running the Bolder Boulder yesterday (and after somewhat joking with me about not breaking an hour) we were in the car with the kids and Blake and I were talking about something and he must of said something stupid cause I started laughing. Then Britton said to me, "Dad can always make you laugh, can't he?" I am happy to say after 8 years of marriage, 3 children, and 5 residences, Blake can still make me laugh hard enough to cry, hard enough to make my stomach hurt. And I am also happy to say that we can still throw cold water on one another while the other is in the shower and get a good laugh out of it- not sure why that hasn't gotten old yet.
Love you babe! Heres to lots more years of you acting dumb so I can laugh!
(isn't that a great picture of Maycee?)
Quite the Week
Well, its been an eventful week to say the least. Blake went on a business trip last week to Atlanta. While he was there he quit his job.. While he was there a tornado nearly missed our town, hitting just east and then again just north of us. While he was there we lost our power for almost 24 hours. Thank goodness my mom arrived 3 days into his trip and was here during the power outage and trips to the basement, taking cover, waiting for the storms to pass. I am not sure I could have emotionally handled all of it with out her! Britton also officially finished Kindergarten and they ended the year with a field day which was very fun. He was a little emotional saying good bye to his teacher and isn't really thrilled that school is over.
The tornado hitting northern colorado is devestating. We have three families at our church that lost their homes. Blake went to Windsor on Sunday and helped clean up "the mess" and said he had never seen anything like it in his life. He was truly amazed that more lives weren't lost. It really could have been worse.
Losing our power for that long opened my eyes to what we needed to add to our emergency prepardness. The first lesson I learned quickly is I need to keep everything in an easy, convienent location. Because we are finishing our basement, our "storage" and garage is not at all organized. So I spent some time digging for flashlights, batteries, candles, and light sources. I have also started thinking about possibly investing in a generator. If the power had been out much longer, we probably would have lost most of our freezer foods. Luckily we didn't. The kids were great about the power going out (for the most part), grandma did a great job of inventing new acitivies for Britton, who needs to be busy. They did science experiments and she built tepee people out of index cards and made a whole town. She was also great to cuddle with the kids on the couch until they went to sleep, while I lit candles.
Oh yes, Blake did really quit his job. He will officially be done with Amgen next week and will start in June with a small industrial network company. He is very excited for his new adventure!
To end our most exciting/eventful week I ran the Bolder Boulder yesterday. What an event. I got to do it with my friend Micah, which was very fun! Having someone to talk to the entire time, makes 6 miles seem easy! I finished in 1 hour and 55 seconds, which I was pretty pleased with for my first race since having Maycee. The spectators in Boulder are always a sight and something new this year was people serving Beer in dixie cups to the runners. Wow! I am not a drinker, but do beer and running really mix??

Hers a Pig
This morning while Maycee was througly enjoying her egg (she couldn't take it in fast enough) Abby was watching her and said,"Mom, hers a pig") I couldn't stop giggling at this comment all morning- not only that she called her a pig, but how Abby refers to everyone as a her, not as a she or he.
About an hour later I was back in my room getting ready and I came out to this mess in the kitchen. Maycee thought she was funny and was walking around in the bisquick as I was trying to sweep it up. She tracked bisquick all through the house- laughing the whole time. Abby you are right- hers is a pig- at least for today!!

A Tribute to Dr. Hoag
48 Hour Getaway
I did it- I actually left my kids for 48 hours! I haven't been alone for that long since Blake and I went to California two years ago. My sister called me in April and told me that Carrie Underwood and Josh Turner were putting on a concert in Casper and that I needed to come up and go with her, my mom and dad, and my other sister and her husband - it didn't take much convincing and Blake was on board to play Mr. Mom while I drove up to Casper for 2 days. It was a much needed vacation for me and Blake did an AWESOME job holding down the fort (the house was even clean!) Going to a concert in Casper is fun because it is a smaller venue so we had great seats. You know it is a small town when everyone at the restauraunt you go to beforehand is also going to the concert. Casper Wyoming loves a good country concert!
As much fun as it was to getaway- I was so excited to see my kids faces! I really missed them..- They were very excited to see my pictures of Carrie Underwood.
