I think Were Alone Now

When I heard that the theme of the Ward Halloween Party was the 80's I got a little excited. I think in elementary school I dressed up as Madonna or a punk rocker almost every year. Imagine my excitement when I was able to find leg warmers, pink gloves, and a mullet wig for Blake.

Needless to say, we were a little excited about our costumes and we ended up winning best couple costumes at the party. I think Blake elbowed an elderly man when he high fived me.

Bedtime with Britton

Blake hasn't had to travel since the last week of September, so it has been a few weeks since I have put Britton to bed. However, tonight I wanted to put him to bed because this is the time of the day that Britton is the most talkative about his day, or about his worries, or about things he is excited about. Its either a technique he uses to put off bed time, or this is when he finally feels relaxed enough to share what he is thinking. Anyhow, it is always some of the best conversation.

Let me say first that Britton's career of choice for himself is a teacher (at least since school started). Before that, he wanted to be a police officer. Now is wants to be a 2nd grade teacher during the week, and an inventor on the weekends (except he won't work on Sundays). Recently, he has been quite interested in playing basketball- of course Blake and I are loving that! So of course he has added professional basketball player to his list of careers. Apparently Britton has been feeling the stress at the thought of having 3 jobs, because tonight at bedtime, he groans and says,"Man, I just don't know how I am going to do it. I feel like I am not going to have any time with my kids." Me trying very hard not to bust out laughing replies, "Well Britton, don't you feel like dad has quite a bit of time with us?" He sits up and sternly says to me, "Mom, Dad doesn't have three jobs."

Oh that is right. He doesn't. Stupid me.

About 2 mintues later Britton has found a solution. "Oh, I know. I can teach during the school year and invent during summer vacation, play basketball during Christmas vacation and on all the other days off. Perfect." Followed by a huge grin. Eyes closed. Out within 2 mintues.

I love him.

Tuckered Out

After a morning of preschool and then an afternoon of play dates, the girls crashed out on the couch while I was cleaning up. Soon after I took this picture I heard a thump, and sure enough, Abby had fallen off of the couch. She got right back on and fell back asleep.

There is no place like Grandmas and Grandpas

We decided to head up to Casper this past weekend to spend some time with my mom and dad, plus Teresa and Brittnee's families. It was a great weekend filled with laughter, food, pretzels at the Casper mall, along with some fire building, nail painting, and dressing our old barbies in all the fun clothes that we so fondly remembered (Did we have homemade everything?). For some reason when I get to Casper I can suddenly consume 90% more food in one day than I usually do. I have no problem eating 5 peanut butter bars in one day or drinking 3 diet cokes before noon. Maybe its because we stay up way too late and then the kids wake up way too early. I am blaming it on that rather than lack of self-control.

My little nephew Logan has grown so much and he is so handsome and such a good little baby. Abby was content to sit next to whoever was holding Logan and just staring at him with a huge smile on her face. Britton and Austin shot lots of hoop and even made up some little skit while they were watching TV in the garage (complete with a recliner and grandpas favorite mints).. Too much fun. I think Brittons words most of the weekend were, "Sweet" or "Good times, good times" Britton even cried when we were leaving and I said to him, "Aren't we so lucky that we only leave 3 hours away and we can come for fun weekends like this one?" He said through his tears, "Yes. Can we come back next weekend?"
