So glad thursday night is back...

I love The Office!! I have been laughing out loud since watching the Season Premiere on Thursday. I keep thinking about funny things that happened in the episode. This show cracks me up..

Andy used to bug the heck out of me, but he is starting to grow on me- he is great. Loved the part when he was talking about his college A Capella group.

Looking forward to this season!

Love of Books

The past couple of weeks Maycee has been quite interested in books. We will often find her sitting on the couch flipping through a book, as if she is reading every word. She doesn't flip through the books quickly, she takes her time and you can tell she is really studying the pictures on the pages. The other night when Blake was out of town I was busy with Britton and Abby getting them ready for bed and I walked out in the living room and there she was sitting so nicely looking at a book on the couch. I love it.

Face Art

Blake took the kids tonight to Chick Fil A while I went to a class..Apparently it was kids night and they were doing face painting. I got a text message from Blake that read, "Monumental breakdown from Britton. Couldn't decide what to get painted on his face." I had to smile a little. So glad I wasn't there. All the sudden the teacher talking about current issues in teaching was sounding even more interesting.

I guess somehow he brought himself together to decide on the spider. It took Abby one second to decide. She is all about the unicorns.

Are these really my Daughters????

This week at preschool was reptile week so I asked my neighbor to bring her snake over to show the kids at preschool. I have never been too fond of snakes, in fact they make me a little sick, but the kids went nuts for "snakey" Abby was a natural snake charmer- she kept going back for more turns. Maycee was even comfortable letting it slither across her lap.

"Mom, now we have to be real first graders"

It has been fun, to say the least to watch Britton adjust to life as a 1st grader. Because the kid takes everything so seriously, I think he is thinking about school 24/7. This weekend, we stayed at a hotel in Colorado Springs and while he was sleeping he shouted out, "We have to get ready for the fire drill." Then last night when I went in his room to turn his humidifier on and put the covers back on him he rolled over and mumbled something about "Okay, I will do my homework and I will write my letters good."

Yesterday was the first day of homework and it completely stressed him out- to the point where he just kept saying "I am just worried about this homework. When should I do it? My teacher said no t.v. and no eating during homework and I just want to do a good job and what if I don't do it right." He then went on to say "These last 2 weeks we have just been practicing being first graders, no we have to be real first graders." Evidently he is feeling the pressure. I hope I can help him find the balance of taking it seriously, but not stressing TOO much."

Abby's (and mine) first day of preschool

Ever since we moved here three years ago I have wanted to teach preschool out of our house. Now that I am not pregnant, out of the infant stage, and have one child in school full time, I decided that this was the year to do it. Today was the first day and we had a lot of fun. The kids were super quiet at first, but it didn't take them too long to warm up. Abby "gets" to be one of the students, which will most likely be the biggest challenge for me, as today she is the only kid who cried! But I did expect this- I think she will be fine, it will just take her sometime to get used to the idea of having to share me (and the things in her house!) A couple of Abby's friends from church are in the class so I think this will help her because she is so excited to be with them.

My favorite line of the day was when I offered the children either water or milk for their snack and one little child said, "I will have coke please." Too cute.
